Major George Polarek

Major George Polarek, assistant director, The Salvation Army World Service Office, was interviewed by Paulo Goncalves, associate professor, University of Lugano, Switzerland, to share his thoughts on some of the recent disasters that he and his organization have been involved in. Major Polarek's group works outside the boundaries of the United States on an international basis. He is one of the first people from his organization to get into an area after a disaster to provide assessments of the condtion of the people, find out infrastructures concerns, and then find means to bring personnel in from around to the world to provide assistance.
