Alvaro Lorca

Ph.D. Student
Georgia Institute of Technology

Alvaro received his Industrial and Mathematical Engineering degree and M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is currently a Ph.D. student in Operations Research at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. His main research interests are optimization under uncertainty models and algorithms and theory with public-impact applications in energy and logistics. His main contribution to the Health & Humanitarian Logistics Center was to collaborate in the development of a decision support tool for post-disaster debris operations, enabling optimization for the collection, transportation, reduction, recycling and disposal of debris after natural disasters such as hurricanes or earthquakes occur.
