Pelin Pekgün

Dr. Pelin Pekgün is an assistant professor of management science in the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. She holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in industrial and systems engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and B.S. and M.S. degrees in industrial engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. Her research interests include applications of management science and operations research in pricing and revenue management, supply chain management, marketing/operations interface, centralized/decentralized decision making, lead-time quotation, health and humanitarian logistics. Previously, she served as the Manager of Analytical Services in JDA Software's Pricing and Revenue Management Group leading the operations research team in North America for six years in various projects in retail, hospitality, passenger travel and other leisure industries. She currently serves as the topical editor of applications with societal impact in the Wiley Encyclopedia of Operations Research and Management, and as an editorial board member in the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management. She also serves as a member of the INFORMS Franz Edelman Selection Committee and as the chair of the INFORMS Professional Recognition Committee.

Prior to joining USC, Dr. Pekgün was a visiting assistant professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology in 2011-2012. During this time, she served as a faculty advisor to the student teams in the multi-disciplinary Caribbean Hazard Assessment Mitigation and Preparedness (CHAMP) project, particularly for developing an index to assess the hazard vulnerability of Caribbean countries.
