Industrial & Systems Engineering (PhD student)

Ben Johnson received his BSc in Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, with minors in economics and Spanish as well as a certificate in entrepreneurship. After gaining 4 semesters of work experience in aerospace with Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia and ATA Engineering in San Diego, he decided to change focus and seek a field of study that would have a more direct engagement with people. Ben also knew he wanted to focus on projects that would have a significant impact on both individuals and society, a passion instilled in him from his year serving in South Africa. Ben has now joined the PhD program in Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech and actively engages these passions in the Center for Health and Humanitarian Systems as well as in the Health Analytics group. In his future, he plans to continue building his engineering and business analytics skills to apply them to humanitarian applications around the globe. He is currently working as a Business Intelligence intern at USAID in Washington, DC. His specialties include optimization, operations research, mathematical modeling, small business, and leadership.
