Gari Clifford

Associate professor
Biomedical Engineering

Dr. Clifford holds an international reputation in critical care data analysis and the application of signal processing and machine learning to medicine. He joined the faculty at Emory and Georgia Tech in 2014. Previously he helped found the Sleep & Circadian Neuroscience Institute at the University of Oxford, where he is an Honorary Professor and leads one of its five themes.

Since 2009, he has also served as Associate Professor and Fellow of Kellogg College at the University of Oxford in the Department of Engineering Science, led the Intelligent Patient Monitoring Group, and served as Director of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Healthcare Innovation at the Oxford Institute of Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Clifford received postdoctoral research training at MIT where he later became a Principal Research Scientist, managing the development of the world's largest open access critical care database (MIMIC II). Prior to MIT, Dr. Clifford completed his DPhil in Neural Networks and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Oxford.
