World Food Programme Supply Chain Redesign

Pre-Event Planning
Prepositioning of Inventory Worldwide
World Food Programme (WFP)

WFP is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger. Its logistics operations suffer from low service levels and high logistics and procurement costs. The proposed redesign includes inventory pre-positioning using regional depots and an inventory management tool. Implementation of these models’ results would allow transforming a reactive supply chain into a proactive one, reducing costs and lead times, and improving service levels.
