Georgia Tech Lady Jackets

ISyE and the HHS Center shares new research while cheering on the GA Tech Lady Jackets!

Sunday, February 23rd, the HHL Center and ISyE hosted a catered reception and poster session at the Callaway Club in McCamish Pavilion before the Georgia Tech Lady Jacket's basketball team took on Maryland. Georgia Tech Masters and PhD. students shared posters on various projects they have worked on recently, and HHL Center co-director Dr. Julie Swann motivated the Lady Jackets with a locker room speech as a guest coach and was called out onto center court at halftime. 

Extreme by Design movie

Extreme By Design film screening, panel and workshop

Extreme By Design is the story of three Stanford students who design low-cost products that meet basic needs of the world's poor. During a 6-month course, Design for Extreme Affordability, they travel to Bangladesh and Indonesia and race to build life-saving breathing devices, IV medicine infusion pumps, and fresh water storage systems. PBS aired the hour-long film nationwide on Dec. 11, 2013 at 10 pm (right after NOVA).

Refugee Resettlement Forum

HHS Center co-hosts Refugee Resettlement Forum at GA Tech for France-Atlanta Humanitarian Month

Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 from 6-7:30pm, a number of experts on refugee resettlement came together to raise awareness about the issue in the U.S. and Metropolitan Atlanta with a focus on an increasing the French-speaking refugee population in the coming years. Panelists shared about the work taking place and ways to volunteer from the International Rescue Committee and Refugee Family Services. HHL Center Co-Director Dr. Julie Swann Presents at CDC Symposium on Role of "Engineering and Operations Research in Public Health"

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) held its first ever forum on “Engineering and Operations Research in Public Health” on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 on the Roybal Campus of the Atlanta-based CDC Global Communications Center.  The symposium highlighted common research areas and new technology for engineers and influential scientists at the CDC to emphasize the ways engineering research impacts and informs population health through public health policy and interventions.
