Extreme By Design is the story of three Stanford students who design low-cost products that meet basic needs of the world's poor. During a 6-month d.school course, Design for Extreme Affordability, they travel to Bangladesh and Indonesia and race to build life-saving breathing devices, IV medicine infusion pumps, and fresh water storage systems. PBS will air the hour-long film nationwide on Dec. 11 at 10 pm. Come catch a sneak peek and learn more about design thinking!

Georgia Tech's HHL Center and Engineers Without Borders will be hosting a sneak peek at the hour-long documentary film EXTREME BY DESIGN followed by a Q&A panel with Ralph King- EBD filmmaker, Dr. Ozlem Ergun- HHL Center Co-Director, Mary Cantwell-Coordinator for the Center for Design Thinking at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian School, and Scott Sanchez- VP of Innovation for First Data.

Filmmaker Ralph King and Stanford d.school graduate Erica Estrada will facilitate an interactive design thinking workshop that begins with a design challenge and covers five design steps (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test). At key intervals, we present clips of the film that provide real-world examples of each step of the process. There will be an optional film screening following the workshop at 6PM for those interested.
