Save the Date: 2015 Health & Humanitarian Logistics Conference, NOV 18-20, South Africa

The 7th annual Conference on Health and Humanitarian Logistics will be hosted by the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) at the University of Pretoria campus in Sandton, South Africa, and it is co-organized by the Georgia Tech Center for Health & Humanitarian Systems (HHS), the INSEAD Humanitarian Research Group, the MIT Humanitarian Response Lab and Northeastern University.

The conference brings together participants from NGOs, private industry, government, academia, foundations, and other organizations from around the world and features plenary panels, and interactive workshops on a variety of topics related to supply chain management and logistics in global health and humanitarian response and development.The program also includes poster sessions, ample opportunities for networking, humanitarian site visits, and leisure excursions.

This year's conference features a keynote presentation from Anthony Banbury, former head of the UN Mission on Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) from September 2014 to January 2015. Past speakers have included leaders from across various sectors from organizations such as: Aidmatrix, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, BI Norwegian Business School, CARE, Catholic Relief Services, INSEAD, GlaxoSmithKline, John Snow Inc., MIT, OXFAM Great Britain, the Pan American Health Organization, Red Cross Societies, Riders for Health, Tufts University, UNICEF, UN World Food Programme, and the World Health Organization among others.

Panel topics will include:

  • Supply Chains for Ebola and Communicable Diseases
  • Strengthening Public Health Systems in Developing Countries
  • Planning for and Responding to Complex Humanitarian Emergencies
  • Infrastructure and Capacity Building for Long-term Development
